PLANT CITY, FL – Ag-Mart Produce has partnered with United Food Bank of Plant City (UFBPC) to help drive donations to the non-profit through a corporate food drive that will ultimately provide meals to vulnerable members of the community. The six-week initiative (August 17-September 30) is another example of Ag-Mart’s commitment to support local communities where the company operates by partnering with organizations that improve opportunities related to wellness care, education and environmental sustainability. The idea of the food drive came from Beth Chavez, Senior HR Manager at Ag-Mart Produce. “The effort put forth by the employees at this point in the food drive has been remarkable,” says Chavez. “Engaging our employees and formalizing a way for them to become more active in the community has not only raised their awareness of the struggles that many families and individuals are facing today, but helped to create a greater sense of morale within our working environment.” "Our goal is to stamp out hunger in Eastern Hillsborough County and raise the standard of living for the truly needy by providing food assistance and opportunities for education, improving job skills and job readiness for clients who are referred to us," said Kelleigh Klein, Executive Director at UFBPC. |
“As the economic conditions in the country continue to adversely affect Hillsborough County, the need to help others with their basic necessities is more important than ever,” said Kevin Delaney, Director of Sustainability and Productivity at Ag-Mart. “The alignment of our goals with those of United Food Bank of Plant City led to a natural partnership that will help us give back to community members who are struggling through tough times."
